Speedtest parameters

Unique ID of the client

Every client (mobile device or computer) receives an unique ID.

Locale IP address of the device

The locale IP address of the client (e.g. 192.168.0.2)

Which server will be used for the measurement?

The already implemented load balancing is used to allocate a test server to the device. This feature is also used to allocate the best test server according to the provider, location, speed, etc.

Which port shall be used for the test

The measurements can be performed on any port. This option is configurable. The default setting uses port 443 with TLS.

SSL in use

Is SSL used for the measurement? Is traffic encrypted?

When was the test started?

Start time of the test as Unix timestamp.

Average upload speed

The average measured upload speed, which appears as result

Average download speed

The average measured download speed, which appears as result

The shortest ping time

The shortest latency in milliseconds

The public IP address of the device

Public IP address of the device can be either an IPv4 or IPv6 address.

Which test system is used

This can be the Android, iOS, Java or WebSocket version.

Version of the operating system

Which operating system (type and version) is used on the client?

API of the operating system

Which API version is used on the client. Mainly used for iOS and Android.

Details of the used device

Details include manufacturer, model and product of the client device.

Country in which the test is performed

The country-code of the network

Network operator details

The operator code and used network name

SIM provider details

The country code, operator code and the provider name of the SIM card

Details of the WiFi connection

The SSID, the BSSID and the network ID of the WiFi connection (if in use)

Pre-set test duration

The pre-set measurement time, the default is 7 seconds.

Number of used threads

How many connections are used in parallel

State of the current test

The state of the current measurement. (e.g. initialization, upload, download, ping, aborted, failed, etc.)

Time zone of the device

The used time zone of the client device (e.g. CET)

Transferred data

The exact amount of the transferred date in bytes, separated in upload and download.

Duration of the transmission

The exact time of the upload and download in nanoseconds.

IP address of the server

The IP address of the used test server.

Geographical location

Longitude and latitude (GPS coordinates), of the client, including the accuracy of the position. The country which is assigned to the public IP address and if possible, the postcode of the region in which the device is located. The coordinates and the accuracy will be determined every second during the whole duration of the test. If a position change is detected, it is transmitted to the server. This results in multiple coordinates, when the client is moving.

Network type designation.

The network type designation (e.g. GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, LTE, etc.)

Average signal strength.

The average signal strength of the device during the test. The signal strength is measured continuously.

Memory usage

Memory usage of the system during the test measured continuously.

CPU usage

CPU usage of the system during the test measured continuously.

Number of tests by this client ID

Number of performed tests on this client.

Information of the NAT type.

If NAT is used and which kind of NAT is used (e.g. nat_local_to_public_ipv4).

IP provider.

The ASN (Autonomous System Number) of the provider of the public IP address

Total amount of data transferred

Total amount of data transferred that has taken place during the test, including background data when possible. In Mbytes.

Reverse DNS entry of the IP address.

The reverse DNS entry of the public IP address of the client.

Public IP address as name.

The name of the public IP address of the client.

Roaming information.

If roaming is used and which kind of roaming is used. E.g. international or national roaming.

Information if the NDT test was completed.

Includes the information if the additional NDT test from MLAB was completed and the result..

The number of preset threads.

How many threads were preset from the control server, default is 3.

ZIP code of the device.

Manual input of the ZIP code thru the user. Also different values could be entered before or after the test.

Client time.

Time of the client device.

Unique test ID

A unique test ID.

Country code information

The ASN (Autonomous System Number) of the Country in which the client performs the test.

Travelled distance and traveling speed

The travelled distance and the traveling speed when the client has moved during the test, based on the GPS coordinates.

Start time

Start time relative to the start of the speed test in nanoseconds.

End time

End time relative to the start of the speed test in nanoseconds.

Website URL

Target of the given tests. E.g. http://berec.europa.eu/

Timeout

Default time after which the test will be aborted.

Sent data

Send data during the tests in bytes.

Received data

Received data during the test in bytes.

Rendering

The time the client needs to download and displays the content.

Result state

The state code (HTTP header). The value -1 means, that the website was inaccessible.

Result information

Information about the test procedure. Generated thru the client, depending on the test result.

Destination of the given test. E.g. http://berec.europa.eu

The length of the response of the server

Hash of the response

Checksum of the content. This field also includes the result of the test.

Default time after which the test will be aborted.

Result

Enum which is representing the test result.

DNS Test

Destination server

Preset value, which includes the destination server.

DNS entry

DNS entry which has to be resolved.

DNS resolver

Specified DNS resolver that shall be used for the test

Timeout

Default time for the DNS request.

Duration

How much time was needed to perform the test, in milliseconds.

Result

Enum which is representing the test result.

TCP Test

Timeout

Default time after which the test will be aborted.

Incoming port

Port number which shall be used for the incoming test.

Result

Result as enum, OK when successfully completed, else FAILED.

Server message

Server message which will be transmitted after successful connection.

Outgoing port

Port number which shall be used for the outgoing test.

Result

Result as enum, OK when successfully completed, else FAILED.

Server message

Message which the client receives, after the client sent his message to the server.

Delay

Preset delay between the single packets, in milliseconds.

Outgoing port

Port number which shall be used for the outgoing test.

Number of packets

Number of packets to be sent from the client.

Number of received packets

Number of packets received from the server.

Loss rate

Loss rate of the outgoing packets.

Response

The response upon receipt of the packet to the client. This value is used to determinate the number of lost packets.

Incoming port

Port number which shall be used for the incoming test.

Number of packets

Number of packets to be sent from the server.

Response

The response upon receipt of the packet to the server. This value is used to determinate the number of lost packets.

Loss rate

Loss rate of the received packets.

VoIP Test

Timeout

Default time after which the test will be aborted.

RTP Header Codec

The codec to be used in the test.

Call duration

The duration of the simulated call.

Delay

Delay between the packets, in milliseconds.

Outgoing port

Port number for the outgoing voice stream.

Incoming port

Port number for the incoming voice stream.

Bitrate

The bitrate of the codec.

Incoming/outgoing packets

Number of incoming and outgoing packets to be sent from/to the server.

Received packets

The amount of all received incoming/outgoing packets.

Incoming/outgoing sequence errors

Number of packets that have been received in wrong order.

Shortest/longest incoming/outgoing sequence

The shortest/longest incoming/outgoing sequence of correctly received packets.

Incoming/outgoing skew

The difference in arrival time of the transmitted voice packets.

Max incoming/outgoing jitter

The highest jitter between two incoming/outgoing packets.

Mean incoming/outgoing jitter

The mean incoming/outgoing jitter.

Traceroute Test

Timeout

Default time after which the test will be aborted.

Target

The target of this test (e. g. berec.europa.eu)

Result

The result is an array. Each array element represents one hop and contains the following information: host name and time.

Max. number of hops

Optional parameter used to define a maximum number of allowed hops.
